The Dual Solstices (Weeks 1 - 2, 4th - 17th March)

Monday came and we headed to HSKA (Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences) ready to begin our internship.... Turns out we have to do up paperwork as we are technically "students" ended up delayed the meeting with our professor in charge of our internship till late afternoon, where we found out that we were doing retro games as our internship assignment. Since we are involved in the HSKA-NYP Summer School Program (Completely separate from our internship and ironically held during the university's winter semester 🀨) during the first 2 weeks of the our internship, we were given breathing room to do research on what games we wanted to do while concurrently attending summer school.

Back in September, German students from HSKA came over to NYP for HSKA-NYP Summer School Program to learn about GPS and Go Language programming together with NYP Student representatives. So this time, we and the other SIT students are to learn about data analytics and data mining with the German Students. Of course, the summer school program is not just purely studying, we also had time visiting places and in Karlsruhe and neighbouring cities such as Baden-Baden. Places that we went to include: Triberg Waterfalls, Mummelsee and Durlach. Also, Winston celebrated his birthday πŸŽ‚ πŸŽ‰

A special opportunity came about when our professor mentioned of a parade in the shopping street. You can think of it as Chingay or NDP parade but the people interact with the onlookers. But it's flip of a coin, they may give you goodies such as Candy or even t-shirts, or nasty things such as shredded paper thrown in you face or shoved underneath your clothes😱 I can safely say that our apartment wasn't exactly the cleanest when we came back from the parade.
It's kind of sad when the other SIT students had to leave back for Singapore. I'm writing this post as they are in the air right now ✈️ and looking back, we really had fun together. The homesickness is beginning to kick in as we are suddenly isolated and we only have each other, but we will prevail and see this through because if you finish your assignment early = more free time! I'm already thinking of what to do once i'm done but only time will tell if i can actually finish early, until then, i'm going to be stuck with my laptop πŸ’»
