The Catalyst (Weeks 7 - 8, 15th April - 28th April)

Note: I was caught up with my internship assignment and I completely forgot about the blog, which is why I decided to combine the posts for last and this week together into 1 post. And in case you noticed, I released this post ahead of time because I really need to work on my assignment to be able to finish in time😫 You will know why later...

Well, now we got that out of the way, let's get started! I celebrated my birthday overseas for the first time (Thanks to my friends for sending me their well-wishes 🤗). I'm not a person that wants a big celebration (Not that I can anyway 😅), so Winston and I just went to an Asian restaurant that we first went to when we arrived to have a nice dinner. (It was expensive but worth it 🤑). So, here is the incoming food porn below 🍽
There is one thing Winston forgot to mention in his earlier post. So, in Europe and other countries, there is the practice of advancing clocks during summertime so that evening daylight lasts longer while sacrificing normal sunrise times, aka Daylight Savings Time (DST). In Karlsruhe, DST signifies the end of the Winter and the start of summer. The temperatures have been steadily increasing and it was beginning to feel like Singapore. Well... Almost. On the days when it was raining, the temperatures dropped back to like during Winter time, so literally on 1 day, it can be hot as hell 🥵 while the next day it can be freezing 🥶.

I'm not kidding 😑

There was one place that our summer school friends missed and that we finally revisited (Long Story that involved our landlord 🤐). Ostendstraße or to us, modern Karlsruhe. No, there are no skyscrapers here, but the architecture here is definitely a huge contrast as compared to what we have seen. It kind of reminded us of Singapore because there was so much greenery here.
Another place that they missed is Mühlburger Tor. It's more a heritage area as compared to Ostendstraße.
Now, going back to why I'm rushing my internship assignment... In my previous post that I hinted that we may be going to France. Turns out, that is a no-go since going to France is more expensive than we thought and based on recent events it is also not exactly safe at the moment.

Don't take my word for it

So, instead, we're going to Switzerland 🤩! And we won't be alone... Winston's father will be joining us for the last 4 weeks! Alright, time for me to get back to working on my assignment 👨‍💻
